From the cottage turn right and head along the road and over the cattle grid take first on your left and head to Gillen. (10 min walk) You can park near the road end at Gillen. Go through the gate at the end of the road and continue on the track ignoring two turns on the left. Ignore a further turning to the left at an old quarry and continue straight ahead. Take the next turning to the left. The track ascends through the forest to a high point in open ground with views to the east and west. The track descends back into the forest and eventually takes a sharp right. Shortly after that the edge of inland cliffs are reached. There are fantastic views from here across to Uig and Loch Snizort and the Trotternish Ridge in the far background. Turn left here. There is a signpost (Clifftop walk) on to a path across moorland.
At the end of the cliffs the track splits with the right going off down to Loch Losait Bay (Sguirr Bay). Keeping left the track narrows and goes through open moorland.
