As you are walking through crofting land the months of April and May (lambing season) should be avoided. The start of the walk to Waternish Point can be accessed by walking or driving to Trumpan. Cars should be parked at the car park opposite Trumpan Church. There is a viewpoint here showing directions to the highpoints seen from here, particularly the Western Isles. Walking back a few hundred metres go through the gate to the left where the road takes a sharp right turn. The track is marked clearly though at times parts can be pretty boggy especially after wet weather. House. The return route to this point is about 8 miles (13km). Continuing on to the lighthouse is a further 2 miles (3km). The walk should take around 4 hours in total with outstanding views across the Minch to the Western Isles.
